Jingle Bells

From the sublime to the ridiculous. The world's easiest Christmas tune everyone loves to hate (and it's only October)...

Aguado Estudio

I really liked playing this piece when I started playing. I couldn't find it at the Icelandic Guitar School site(there's so much there, perhaps I've just missed it), so I made a copy of my own...

Country Gardens (harder version)

With apologies to Percy Grainger. The previous post is a shorter, slightly less involved version of this arrangement. This one is slightly harder, slightly quirky, but hopefully more fun.

Chinese Melody

Something pentatonic...
This can be played either as a simple solo, or as a duet.

Modern Study

A study in "hammer-ons" and "pull-offs" (ligado), incorporating fret 12 harmonics and a relatively easy section in seventh position in the middle.

Dorian Blues

The school holidays are over, so I expect there will be a few new posts coming up.

Blues Trio

A very simple trio. The third part is especially easy. Chords can be played as well as or instead of it.

Blues Trio D Rivron

Modern Study 1

A study I wrote for someone preparing to work on a Trinity Grade 3 piece.

Night Dance

Another Susato arrangement. This one -a quartet- is a bit harder than the last one.

Guitar Trio

I've just arranged this Susato Allemande (1551) for guitar trio. It was originally a four-part piece. I've simplified the harmony slightly to make it very easy to play.

Simple Tune Sheet

My father taught me the following words to Villikins:

A nasty black eye had my uncle Jim.
He got hit in the eye with a tomato skin.
"Tomatoes don't hurt", said I with a grin,
But he said this one did, 'cause it came in a tin.

If there are others, I don't know them.

Mixolydian Trio

Another simple trio - this time in the Mixolydian Mode. The third part is the easiest.

Pentatonic Exercise: accompaniment

Some time ago I posted a couple of pentatonic scales for use in simple improvisation (click on the improvisation link in the right-hand column under "Music by Difficulty, etc."). This is an accompaniment which can be played with improvisations based on those scales. Obviously, it can be repeated ad infinitum.

Easy Trio

A very elementary trio. The score is printed on the first page, the three parts seperately on the second. If you save it, you can print whichever page you like.

Magic Tango

Happy New Year - if you're reading this in January. This is an elementary duet. Term is just starting, so I'm obviously pretty busy. However, I hope to be posting some more pieces this month, so watch this space...
